Dying People

Here is a fascinating tale of a study I heard from my professor who taught a class on mysticism and the occult. He mentioned that people who were clinically dead or on the brink of death before coming back to life would report similar out of body experiences. People from all over the world, across cultures would say something similar to seeing their body on the operating table/hospital bed from the ceiling down before being resuscitated or “brought back”. Yes, I know you know about out of body experiences. That’s not the interesting part.

A group of parapsychologists decided to perform an experiment where they would draw a simple clear image or design upon a sheet of paper and place it atop a dresser or the upper surface of a light fixing. Essentially on top of a surface where no one could possibly look at the paper unless they had their backs glued to the ceiling.

When a patient in the hospital room or operating room where the image was placed would eventually reach that critical dying stage and return, the parapsychologists would issue an interview. The questions were open ended and not loaded. Something along the lines of: “what experience did you have when the doctors declared you dead? Did you remember anything?”

Most patients that were included in this experiment would report that they had an out of body experience and for some reason remember an image. The image that was drawn on the paper.

After hearing the story of this study, I hounded my professor for the articles name and members of the study but he claims he doesn’t remember. Either way, I don’t care if he lied or not. It’s a great lead-in to many effects.

Imagine a simple mentalism routine where you use an impression pad. They tear off the page and place it atop of a bookshelf where no one can read it (perhaps you’re out of the room while they do this). You come back, lie down and close your eyes. You can do a classic pulse stop method here, and wake up in a jolt and tell them what you read atop of the bookshelf.

There are a lot of tricks that this presentation could work with, any trick that could be astral projection being just the start. What’s nice is you can tell them to write clearly, even in block capitals, because you will be reading the word in a second. You’re not necessarily lying, either. Hope it brings some fun for you. Enjoy.
