On the 3rd of this month the Nu Way Magick Blogge went down, possibly for good. The NWMB was a general purpose magic blog that ran from New Year’s Eve 2017 to October 2018. It was founded by Andrew Musgrave, otherwise known as The Burnaby Kid, as a followup to his Ye Olde Magick Blogge. It’s hard to find much about it on the web, but it served an important role in shaping the magic community on the Internet to be what it is today, in a way completely separate from how, say, The Jerx has impacted it.
Shortly after the launch of the Blogge, Andrew started publishing installments of what he called J.A.C.K., or the Jolly Almanac of Card Knavery. This is a substantial rewrite if not complete overhaul of The Royal Road to Card Magic for the modern age. It’s a truly impressive feat and an invaluable resource for the budding card magician. While the posts were consistent and quality, the greatest loss is that of the Jolly Almanac.
While there’s a lot more that could be said about The Burnaby Kid, I’m not the person to say it. I’m just here to rehost JACK, and make sure this resource is available for some time longer. If anyone else wants to host it, you should feel free to.
